PhD position in Phonon spectroscopy
Job offer from December 12, 2017
The Department of Molecular Spectroscopy at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research is looking for excellent, highly motivated PhD candidates who will unravel the physics of semiconductor materials with ultrafast nonlinear/THz spectroscopy techniques. The aim of the PhD project is to understand the phonon contributions to electronic properties in various semiconductors. The PhD studentship will provide the students with opportunities to familiarize themselves with cutting edge nonlinear spectroscopy techniques, their fundamental principles and their versatility in investigating new materials. Candidates with a Master's degree or equivalent in physics are encouraged to apply. Below are the requirements for the position:
1. Strong knowledge of analytical programming in Matlab or Python
2. Courses or practical knowledge in optics and spectroscopy
3. Courses or practical knowledge in solid-state physics and condensed matter physics
The applicants are requested to submit the documents including a CV, a letter of motivation, grade report, and contact information of (at least) two references via e-mail to Dr. Heejae Kim by 9 February 2018. Review of the applications will begin on 10 February 2018.
