Daniel Crespy studied chemistry at the University of Groningen and Strasbourg where he first got in contact with the field of heterophase polymerization. He joined Professor Katharina Landfester to complete a PhD in the University of Ulm where he developed novel methods to prepare nanocapsules in miniemulsion. In 2006, he held a position as project leader at Empa (Swiss Federal laboratories for Materials Research and Technology), working on stimuli-responsive materials for textile applications. He joined the department of Professor K. Landfester in July 2009 as group leader. His current research interests are the synthesis of new self-healing materials by heterophase polymerizations and the colloid-electrospinning technique.
