Prof. Eva-Kathrin Sinner

Eva-Kathrin Sinner studied biology at the University of Hannover and received her Diploma in 1995 at the Institute for Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research, Gatersleben for her work on 'Cloning of Ferrochelatase, a Key Enzyme in Tetrapyrrol Synthesis'. In 1998 she finished her PhD at the University of Hannover, (Prof. R. Hedrich) for her work on ‘Immobilization and Characterization of Membrane Proteins in Artificial Planar Lipid Membranes’, supervised by Dr. R. Naumann, Merck KGaA, Darmstadt in collaboration with Prof. W. Knoll, MPIP, Mainz. From 1998 to 1999 she joined the group of Dr. M. Hara and Prof. W. Knoll at the RIKEN Institute, Tokyo, Japan, working on ‘In situ Detection of Membrane Proteins with Surface Plasmon Enhanced Fluorescence Spectroscopy’. In 2000 she built up a group in the department of Prof. D. Oesterhelt, MPIB, Martinsried working during her habilitation on in vivo and in vitro expression of membrane proteins and molecular recognition in the context of cell adhesion.
Her main research activities includes application and implementation of synthetic materials into biomimetic systems and new approaches in the field of membrane protein analysis.
