Job Openings for PhD students and postdoctoral Researchers
The Theory Department at the Max-Planck-Institute for Polymer Research is continuously recruiting PhD students as well as Postdoctoral research associates. There is also the opportunity of a guest stay of foreign PhD students at our group, within the framework of the International Max Planck Research School .
Research areas comprise different fields of soft matter theory. Typical topics are polymer networks, polyelectrolytes, hydrogels, structure-property relation, biopolymers, soft matter at surfaces and in confined geometry, membranes, hydrodynamic interactions, colloids, phase transitions, generalized hydrodynamics and instabilities, glassy behavior, method development in computational physics and chemistry, material science, and molecular electronics. Before applying please have a look at the potential projects described on the project leader webpages.
Besides a very good masters degree / PhD (or equivalent) in physics, chemistry, or neighboring disciplines (material sciences, chemical engineering, mathematics, with inclination towards theory and physics), applicants should be willing to collaborate within the Theory Department as well as with experimental groups. Knowledge of soft matter physics or physical chemistry is advantageous but not always required. For PhD students we offer the usual PhD students' grant and excellent working conditions, allowing for a swift completion of the studies (2.5 years). Postdoc contracts are for one year with the possibility of a renewal.
Applications (CV, publication list, copies of examination records, etc.) should be sent to the Director of the Theory Department, Prof. Dr. K. Kremer, Max-Planck-Institut für Polymerforschung, Postfach 31 48, D-55021 Mainz; email: kremer@mpip-mainz.mpg.de
Job opportunity to participate in our software development project ESPResSo++
Applicants should have a strong background in computer simulations or computational science as well as in condensed (soft) matter physics. A PhD in one of the fields or related fields is preferred.
Please send your application, with a complete CV and at least two letters of recommendation to:
