Welcome...

...to the web pages of the Emmy-Noether research group for membrane theory and simulation! This group has been established within the Theory Department of the Max-Planck-Institute for Polymer Research in May 2003. Our research currently focuses on elastic properties of soft surfaces and interfaces (like phospholipid bilayers, soap films, or simply the air-water interface) and their interaction with other objects, like colloids. However, other subjects of soft matter physics (charged systems, polymers) are also under study. Several of the problems we're looking at are inspired by biological questions. We employ analytical, numerical, and simulational methods. Feel free to browse our pages, and make sure to have a look at the scientific things we're doing here!
