Polymer Path
The Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (MPIP) in Mainz seizes the current societal debate concerning plastics and the ensuing impacts on both humans and nature as an opportunity to elucidate the functionality of plastics and their significance. It was during this process that the idea emerged to develop a trail accessible to the public. This path is designed to provide profound insights into the world of polymers on one hand, while addressing the now unfavourable image of plastics and infusing a more fact-based approach into the discussion on the other. Moreover, critical aspects are also examined.
The Polymer Path unites both objectives: the informative character and the aim to ignite enthusiasm for science. Along the trail, there are a variety of thematic areas presented in diverse formats. The individual stops will leave you in awe, revealing the many intrinsic properties of plastics. Many stations also invite active participation: here, you are encouraged to balance, climb, and experiment. In this way, you are enabled to discover the realm of polymers through multiple avenues.
