Matched the Flow, Stole the Show - Doctor Leif, earned his PhD with highest honors!

Heartfelt congratulations to Leif Seute on defending his PhD thesis!

During his PhD in our group, Leif’s research focused on deep generative models for proteins, where he co-developed the state-of-the-art flow-matching methods FliPS and GAFL.
He also contributed early work on Grappa, a machine-learned molecular mechanics force field that can outperform established classical force fields.

His doctoral hat tells its own story: an avid skier and cyclist, many late-night coding and pizza sessions with colleagues, and an eventful time in Heidelberg.

We could not be prouder of this remarkable achievement, which reflects Leif’s dedication, creativity, and hard work. It has been a great pleasure to have him as part of our research group, and we are delighted that he will be staying with us a little longer for his postdoctoral research.
