Nanocolloidal and suprananocolloidal structure and function

In nanocolloidal systems, just as in molecules, functions and properties are influenced by the composition and structure i.e. both by the kind of nanoparticles used and the way they are organized in space. To fully harness the potential of new nanomaterials we need to tackle both challenges. While we design new nanocolloids with unique chemical composition and shape, we also devote our effort to produce supracolloidal assemblies with well-defined structures. From traditional suspension-based self-assembly to electrospinning or solvent-evaporation templated assembly, we are building nanocolloid ensembles with tailored architecture to study the properties of nanocolloids and of groups of nanocolloids.
