A postdoctoral researcher position is available in the group of Organic Neuromorphics led by Dr. Paschalis Gkoupidenis, in the Department of Molecular Electronics at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (web: https://www.mpip-mainz.mpg.de/gkoupidenis). The selected applicant will conduct frontier research at the interface of organic electronics and neuromorphic devices.

The aim of the project is the conception and implementation of organic devices/circuits capable of neuro-inspired information processing functions. More specifically, organic devices with nonlinear dynamics will be designed and implemented in order to reverse-engineer various neuronal functions such as oscillatory and spiking behaviours. Therefore, the candidate should have a strong interest in device physics, neuromorphic engineering, neuroscience, organic electronics and electrochemistry. Practical skills on electrical characterization/metrology of microelectronic devices as well as cleanroom-based fabrication processes are highly appreciated. The ability to work in an interdisciplinary subject, analytical but creative thinking and scientific independence are characteristics of a candidate which are also appreciated.
