Certification as a “Learning Place for Sustainability”
Outstanding recognition for an educational project at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research at the Rhineland-Palatinate ESD symposium. The “Polymer Education Path” received the coveted LernOrt Nachhaltigkeit award in recognition of its significant contributions to the promotion of education for sustainable development (ESD).
The Polymer Education Path at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research has established itself as a pioneering educational program that introduces students and teachers to the complex world of polymer research and its impact on our society. Through interactive tours, lab visits, workshops and informative lectures, participants are encouraged to reflect on the importance of plastics and explore sustainable solutions for their use.
The LernOrt Nachhaltigkeit award recognizes not only the quality and innovative approach of the Polymer Education Path, but also its commitment to environmental education and the promotion of sustainable development. By integrating environmental topics that tie in with the school curriculum and providing resources for teachers, the Plastics Education Trail actively contributes to raising awareness of environmental issues and empowering young people to become the responsible decision-makers of tomorrow.
Ulrike Schneider, Project Manager of the Polymer Education Path, expressed her enthusiasm for the award: “We are very proud to have been certified as a Learning Place for Sustainability. This recognition confirms our commitment to sustainable education and encourages us to continue on our path to raise awareness of environmental issues and contribute to a sustainable future.”
The certification of the trail as a Learning Place for Sustainability is a significant milestone on the way to educational concepts that train critical questioning of complex issues and at the same time inspire courage and curiosity in young people to look at all perspectives and develop new ideas. Through innovative programs and dedicated environmental education, the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research sets an inspiring example for institutions worldwide.
