DESCRIPTION:Over the past 40 years\, the MPI for Polymer Research has cover
ed a wide range of topics including synthesis. Many of these were influenc
ed by Klaus Müllen and his cooperation partners\, inside and outside MPIP
\,in academia and in industry. He has now compiled his networked research
in a book entitled "Die Chemie muss stimmen" (The chemistry get to be righ
t) from the book series "Lives in chemistry - Lebenswerke in der Chemie".
This prompted the idea of bringing together the many partners in a confere
nce. Its focus is on demonstrating theimportance of collaboration in basic
research\, especially at a time when so much in our world is drifting apa
rt.\nVortragende(r): Prof. Dr. Klaus Müllen

DESCRIPTION:This is the final meeting in a series whose purpose has been an
d is to highlight key challenges and current developments within the resea
rch field of the collaborative research center DFG SFB TRR 146 : Multi
scale simulation methods for soft-matter systems. The aim of the work
shop is to bring together experts from the fields of physics\, chemistry\,
and applied mathematics to discuss the current state of the field\, recen
t exciting advances and future prospects. Topics include mathematical foun
dations\, machine learning approaches and other new developments\, and cha
llenges for applications. At the same time\, the meeting is intended to ce
lebrate Kurt Kremer's 70th birthday. Registration deadline: April 17\, 202

DESCRIPTION:The 2025 CECAM workshop: “The atomic simulation environment e
cosystem: Present and perspectives” addressed the increasing challenge o
f maintaining ASE due to its rapid growth in recent years. The main propos
als from the workshop were a new plugin system\, a decoupling of the struc
ture representation (the Atoms object) from the calculation itself (the Ca
lculator object)\, which are currently strongly intertwined and frequently
cause bugs\, and a restructuring of the data obtained from calculators. T
hese proposed changes\, while conceptually small\, will change the fundame
ntal aspects of how every single user and developer operates and interface
s with ASE. The smoothness of the transition from ASEv3 to ASEv4\, its tak
e-up and success will strongly depend on stress-testing the modifications
to the core ASE functionality in a wide range of community-led efforts\, a
s well as the engagement of the developers of the derived packages with th
e plugin infrastructure. Registration deadline: April 15\, 2026
