Lothar
Veith studied chemistry at the University of Goettingen where he got
his Bachelor of Science degree in 2010 working on the characterization
of protein adsorption on solid-supported lipid membranes by impedance
spectroscopy and quartz crystal microbalance in the group of Prof. Dr.
Claudia Steinem. During his Master studies he specialized on analytical
chemistry/mass spectrometry graduating in 2012 after development and
optimization of an ambient ionization source for high-resolution mass
spectrometry in the group of Prof. Dr. Uwe Karst under supervision of
Dr. Carsten Engelhard at the University of Muenster. He then pursued his
PhD at the surface-analytical laboratory Tascon GmbH in Muenster
(specialized in: ToF-SIMS, XPS, LEIS, profilometry) working on the
detection of nanoparticles in tissue sections by Time-of-Flight
Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry.
In February 2018 Lothar joined Prof. Dr. Tanja Weil's team at the
Max-Planck-Institute for Polymer Research, where he is now part of the
mass spectrometry research group of Dr. Joachim Raeder. Lothars research
focuses on mass spectrometric imaging, combinations of mass
spectrometry with complementary techniques and Time-of-Flight Secondary
Ion Mass Spectrometry.
