Fluorescent nanodiamonds have remarkable properties due to their optically active defects for intracellular imaging and sensing. We presented that nanodiamonds are a powerful tool for metalloprotein sensing. Also, we demonstrated that nanodiamonds can be used as a drug carrier for cancer therapy and at the same time as temperature sensors for photothermal therapy.
Anna studied physics at Belarussian State University and achieved a Master's degree there in 2011. Her main topic was ultraviolet diamond-based detectors. In 2016 Anna completed her Ph.D. at the Institute for Quantum Optics (Ulm University) with the supervision of Prof. Dr. Fedor Jelezko. She studied the biological application of fluorescent nanodiamonds for imaging and sensing. Soon after, she moved to Carinthian Tech Research as a researcher, where she focused on magnetic system modeling. In 2018 Anna joined the group of Prof. Dr. Tanja Weil as a senior researcher to continue her work with fluorescent nanodiamonds as quantum sensors.
