A Ph.D. position is available to carry out a collaborative research project
involving the Laboratoire Matériaux Organiques à
Propriétés Spécifiques
(LMOPS UMR CNRS 5041), University of Savoie, Chambéry, France
(External link: www.lmops.univ-savoie.fr) and the Theory group at the Max Planck Institute
for Polymer Research (MPIP), Mainz, Germany
(www.mpip-mainz.mpg.de/theory.html).
The subject is the modelling of amorphous polymer melts and glasses using
different simulation techniques. In particular, effects of high-pressure CO2
on dynamic and thermodynamic aspects of polymer permeation will be studied.
The thesis will be co-directed by Dr. S. Neyertz & Prof. D. Brown of the
University of Savoie and Dr. N. van der Vegt of the Max Planck Institute
for Polymer Research. The candidate will be registered for the Ph.D at the
University of Savoie but will spend equal amounts of time at LMOPS and
the MPIP.
