June 05, 2025

On June 3rd and 4th, this year’s annual meeting of the Max Planck Sustainability Network took place in the Staudinger Lecture Hall at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz. Numerous members from Max Planck institutes across Germany came together to exchange ideas on current developments, challenges, and best practices in the field of sustainability.

The event offered a varied program with thematic sessions on energy, mobility, communication & collaboration, as well as other cross-institute sustainability initiatives.

A particular highlight was the online contribution by the President of the Max Planck Society, Prof. Dr. Patrick Cramer, on Wednesday morning. In his address, he emphasized the importance of the Sustainability Network for the overall strategy of the Max Planck Society and invited participants to engage in open discussion.

The annual meeting made one thing clear: Sustainability is firmly embedded within the Max Planck Society – driven by dedicated staff who are advancing tangible change and committed to fostering a sustainable scientific culture.
