“CataLight”: Light-driven Molecular Catalysts in Hierarchically Structured Materials - Synthesis and Mechanistic Studies

The overarching goal of the joint transregional Collaborative Research Center "Light-driven Molecular Catalysts in Hierarchically Structured Materials - Synthesis and Mechanistic Studies" is the design of photocatalytically active materials for solar energy conversion. Inspired by photosynthesis, CataLight will gain information about the performance of molecular photocatalysts embedded into functional and hierarchically structured soft matter materials. It is a multidisciplinary project. Experts in organic synthesis, materials fabrication and characterization will closely work together with experts in molecular simulation.

The consortium consists of the University of Ulm, the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena, the Leibniz Institute for Photonic Technology e. V. Jena, University of Vienna as well as the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz.
