Forschungsinteressen
I am
investigating green electro-polymerizations and functional polymer systems
based on my PhD background in electro-polymerization and photoresponsive
materials.
Vita
Marcel
studied chemistry at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (Germany), where he received his Master’s
degree in 2020. For his Master’s thesis
in the group of Prof. Tanja Weil, he worked on a polydopamine-based hybrid film for
photocatalytic water splitting
(“Bio-inspired polydopamine-hybrid-films for the self-regulatory photocatalytic water splitting”). In May
2020, he started his PhD at the Max
Planck Institute for Polymer Research, where his research focused on photocatalytic systems as well as
light-responsive nanofilms and
membranes, including light actuation and photopatterning. He
received his doctorate in September
2025. His doctoral thesis was titled “Photoactive Polycatecholamine-Based
Materials.”
