Forschungsinteressen

I am interested in the high-pressure high-temperature (HPHT) synthesis of nanodiamonds with engineered lattice defects. In particular, I investigate the design and identification of molecular precursors that enable controlled incorporation of color centers during nanodiamond growth. Such tailored defect structures enable applications in cell biology, quantum sensing, biological imaging, and future quantum information technologies.

Vita

Julia received her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the Goethe University Frankfurt (Germany) in 2023. Her bachelor’s thesis focused on the biological degradability of 3-amino-L-tyrosine-based nanofilms.

In 2025, she completed her Master’s degree in Chemistry at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (Germany). Her master’s research focused on the development of novel ultrathin magnetic films based on polydopamine (PDA).

Since 2025, she has been a PhD student in the group of Prof. Dr. Tanja Weil at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (MPIP) in Mainz. Her doctoral research focuses on the HPHT synthesis of nanodiamonds with engineered defect centers.
