Master Thesis (m/f/d): Charge carrier transport in hybrid perovskites

Job Offer from April 24, 2024

Master Thesis: Charge carrier transport in hybrid perovskites

Project and activities

The aim of the project is to study the effect of the chemical structure of organic cations on the charge carrier transport in 2-dimensional hybrid perovskites. Especially the role of the micro-, macrostructure and surface morphology on the charge trapping at the dielectric/semiconductor and ion migration in thin hybrid (organic – inorganic) perovskite in field-effect transistors will be investigated.

What are we looking for?

A Master Student position in the Field-Effect Transistor group led by Dr. Tomasz Marszalek in the Division of Molecular Electronics at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz is available immediately. The selected candidate will conduct cutting edge research at the interface of physics, chemistry, materials science and engineering. In particular, the research is focused on the correlation between molecular self-assembly properties and supramolecular structures of various cations and their influence on the charge carrier transport in thin perovskite. The research areas include fundamental physical chemistry of solution deposited perovskites for electronic applications. The candidate will gain fundamental knowledge in molecular electronics, self-assembly of nanostructures and X-ray diffraction methods.

Requirements

We are therefore looking for a highly motivated student with a background in physics, chemistry, polymer science, materials science or related fields, to carry out the following tasks:

  • processing of organic/inorganic semiconductor thin films,
  • micro- and macrostructure characterization by atomic force microscopy and X-ray techniques,
  • electrical characterization and evaluation of key processing/device parameters.

Salary for the appointment will be consistent with the Max Planck Society guidelines for Master students.

Candidates should send their application electronically containing an application letter, CV, to marszalek@mpip-mainz.mpg.de. Applications will be considered until the position is filled.
