Dr. Yanwei Gu

Yanwei Gu was born in Jiangsu, China in 1991. He received his bachelor’s degree (2014) in chemistry at the Nanjing University. Then he joined the group of Professor Jishan Wu at the National University of Singapore, and obtained his Ph.D degree in June 2019. His thesis was focused on the design and synthesis of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) with controlled edge structure. After one-year postdoctoral work in the same group, he moved to Mainz, Germany to continue his research under the supervision of Professor Klaus Klaus Müllen at the Max-Planck Institute for Polymer Research. His current research focuses on bottom-up synthesis of functional nanographenes (NGs) and graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) with specific edge structures and study of their optoelectronic properties.
