Ehjeij Daniel

Daniel Ehjeij was born in Tuttlingen, Germany in 1993. He received his Bachelor's (2016) and Master's (2019) degrees in Chemistry at Heidelberg University, where he worked on the "Synthesis of carbene-gold(I)-complexes and their application in catalysis" (bachelor's thesis under the supervision of Prof. A. S. K. Hashmi) and "Tunable electronic properties of electrochromic phophaphenalenes" (master's thesis under the supervision of Dr. C. Romero-Nieto). During his studies he was working as a research intern about "Inkjet printed silver grids on biodegradable foils" at the InnovationLab GmbH. He then started his PhD studies in the group of Prof. Klaus Müllen at the Max Planck Institute of Polymer Research (MPI-P) in 2019. His dissertation is focused on the synthesis and structural analysis of electrochemically exfoliated graphene and its application as microfiller in polymer matrices for mechanical reinforcement in cooperation with BASF SE. Besides that, he is investigating pericyclic reactions as the driving force for the formation of homoaromaticity.
