Thunchanok Thummaraj
Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research
Main Focus
Development of multifunctional 3D biohybrid materials for medical applications
Curriculum Vitae
Thunchanok studied materials science at Chulalongkorn University (Thailand) where she received her Bachelor's degree with honors in June 2019. From September 2021, she joined the group of Prof. Hiroharu Ajiro at Nara Institute of Science and Technology (Japan), receiving Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarships. There, she focused on the synthesis and characterization of a novel assembly of ester-free poly(trimethylene carbonate) multilayer films by Schiff base linkage and its allyl-derived modifications and received her master degree in September 2023. Afterwards, she started her PhD in April 2024 in the group of Cell-Instructive Materials leaded by Jasmina Gačanin in Synthesis of Macromolecules department of Prof. Dr. Tanja Weil, working on self-assembling peptides as functional bioink components. She is part of “HEAL-X Bioink” project funded by BMBF, focusing on development of a self-healing, bio-inspired and functional hydrogel platform for next-generation 3D bioprinting and its diverse applications.
