Catherina Zambelli
Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research
Main Focus
Catherina’s research focuses on the
synthesis of protein nanocapsules and their surface functionalization with
polymers and ligands to achieve the a high selectivity for target cells. The
aim of her work is to deliver the nanocapsules specifically to liver cancer
cells by targeting tumor-associated endothelial cells.
Curriculum Vitae
Catherina obtained her Bachelor of Science
in Chemical Engineering, followed by a Master of Science in Chemical- and
Bioengineering at ETH Zurich. In October 2024, she joined the research group of
Prof. Katharina Landfester, where she completed her master’s thesis on the
surface functionalization of nanocapsules. After graduating, she remained in
the department of Physical Chemistry of Polymers and began her doctoral
studies there in May 2025, focusing on the surface functionalization of
nanocapsules for selective uptake into target cells.
