Job Offer from May 27, 2026
The Organic Bioelectronics Group (within the Lise-Meitner Excellence Program) led by Dr. Ulrike Kraft at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz is inviting applications for a position as
Postdoctoral Researcher
starting as soon as possible.
The successful candidate will conduct cutting edge research at the interface of physics and (bio)chemistry and will benefit from a stimulating research environment in a diverse, interdisciplinary and international team with access to state-of-the–art facilities.
The project aims to develop and study functionalized biosensors based on OECTs (organic electrochemical transistors) builds on recent achievements from the group (e.g. DOI: 10.1021/acsaelm.4c00260; 10.1002/advs.202521216; 10.26434/chemrxiv-2025-rk07f)
The ideal candidate:
The candidate should have experience in device physics and organic electronics, practical skills on electrical characterization of organic devices, ideally OECTs as well as surface functionalization and cleanroom-based fabrication processes. Furthermore, the ability to work on an interdisciplinary subject, analytical but creative thinking are characteristics of a candidate that are also appreciated.
Essential requirements
- A PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Material Science, Chemistry or similar disciplines
- Motivation for inter-disciplinary research
- Experimental experience with organic electronic devices
- Knowledge of OECTs physics and experience in OECT fabrication and characterization
- Good command of spoken and written English
- Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
Additional skills
- Knowledge and experience in Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy
- Experience in cleanroom-based fabrication processes.
- Experience with surface functionalization for biosensing
