Main Focus

His research primarily focuses on the functionalization and drug loading of liposomal nanocarriers. He investigates different loading methods to achieve high drug loading to the liposomes. By optimizing the functionalization with ligands such as antibodies or small molecules like folate, he aims to achieve optimal liposome uptake into target cells.

Curriculum Vitae

Maximilian studied biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Bayreuth. Parallel to his master’s program, he took part in the Biological Physics program within the Elite Network of Bavaria and did a research internship in the group of Rosario Sánchez-Martín at the GENYO institute in Granada (Spain). He conducted his master thesis in the group of Thomas Scheibel in Bayreuth and graduated in 2021. After a research stay in the group of Leticia Hosta-Rigau at the Technical University of Denmark, he joined the Landfester department at MPIP as a PhD student in 2022. Since then, he is working on the surface functionalization and drug loading of liposomes for biomedical applications. Apart from his phD project, he is also involved in the European BOW project, where he is working on nanocarrier surface functionalization.
