For democracy
Statement of the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research
At the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, several pioneering topics are currently of central relevance. These include, for example, the development of nanomaterials for medical applications, innovative approaches to solar cells, organic light-emitting diodes, and research into water. We also explore new functional materials in the area of sustainability.

Our research is as broad and diverse as the culture at our institute. As one of over 80 institutes of the Max Planck Society, the MPI for Polymer Research is a diverse community of scientists, students, administrative staff and other experts from all over the world, based on values such as respect, honesty, ethical behavior and integrity. There is no room for discrimination based on race, gender, disability, religion or belief, age, sexual orientation or identity.
Science is an engine for innovation and progress. It needs a welcoming culture and an environment that promotes dialogue and intercultural collaboration. Creative minds need an environment in which they feel welcome and have the freedom to create. Science needs an open society and a strong democracy to succeed.
