New Partner Laboratory in Thailand

Cooperation between VISTEC and MPI-P in the field of sustainable materials

October 27, 2019

At the first Max Planck-MSE Symposium at the Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC) in Thailand, a new joint research center between the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (MPI-P) and VISTEC was officially inaugurated. The research collaboration aims to further research sustainable materials.

Sustainable polymer-based materials are the subject of current research. Such materials can potentially be used for anti-corrosion coatings, self-healing materials or for applications such as water or air purification or medical topics.

At the first joint symposium on sustainable materials, held at the Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC) in Thailand, a research collaboration in this promising field between VISTEC and the MPI-P was initiated. The partner laboratory is funded by both sides to ensure a long-term collaboration.

At VISTEC the former group leader of the MPI-P, Prof. Daniel Crespy, is involved in the collaboration, at MPI-P the department around Prof. Katharina Landfester. "We look forward to working together to further explore the properties and applications of sustainable materials," said Landfester.

In addition to Director Katharina Landfester, the group leaders Prof. Volker Mailänder, Dr. Heloïse Therien-Aubin and Dr. Manfred Wagner took part in the opening ceremony of the symposium.
